Tauranga Rotary and friends celebrate the dawn of World Values Day

On 19th October from 19.00 to 21.300 BST (UTC+1), which is 07.00 am to 09.30 am on 20th October in New Zealand as World Values Day dawns Rotary Tauranga Club in association with the Kapa Haka Group, Mangatapu Primary School, and Good Neighbour, Pasifika in the Bay, and other local community groups will be celebrating their values at a breakfast event at Tauranga Yacht Club.

This physical event will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.

Maungatapu School Kapa Haka group will open the event as the sun rises over our beautiful city. Following this year’s Word Values Day theme of “Values for Community”, we want to shine the light 4 groups in Tauranga whose values are demonstrated in the work they are doing and tell us their stories, of their success and challenges.

The City Commissioners are joining us and will present their vision for our City.

This is a breakfast meal event and tickets for physical attendance will be NZ$25 per person (concessions apply).

The link for viewing the livestream of the event will be posted here and on social media channels ahead of the day.

The event film will be posted a few hours after the event on the Rotary website and across the WVD website and social media channels, so if you miss the live-streaming you will be able to catch up on the selected highlights.

We also invite Rotarians from across the world to email us if they would like to be involved in similar celebrations in future years.

Speakers

**Robyn Hanna**
Robyn, a Rotarian since 2012, has worked in the Disability workspace for over 40 years. This year’s World Values Day theme of “Values for Community” allows us to highlight Community groups who have this at the heart of the work they are doing. We also want to ask our local leaders how they are putting Community Values to the forefront in their vision for our City. As Rotary International says “At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture is essential to realising our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change”.

**Katrina Ramage** Katrina was born in Scotland and worked in communications and governmental organisations in London for 20 years. She focusses on supporting social regeneration initiatives, and has also established a number of global businesses and social enterprises. She is Global Ambassador for World Values Day.

**Shadrach Rolleston**
Shadrach is a Commissioner of Tauranga City Council, and a consultant planner and policy advisor with expertise in resource management and Māori relationship management and engagement. He is of Māori descent with tribal connections to Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Pukenga and affiliations to Te Arawa. His public service career spans more than 20 years at a national, regional and local level. He has worked as a policy advisor and planner for both central and local government, having been involved in transport and environmental reforms.

**Jacqui Rolleston-Steed**
Jacqui has worked in public service for over 20 years, and is also a business owner of Manataiao Event Management which specialises in event and project management to develop the capability and capacity of Māori businesses and entities. She sits on the executive board of the Tauranga Māori Business association and has done so for close to 12 years. Our roopu, values, or Ngā Uara, underpin our societies constitution and action plans.
