In our two previous conversations on American Values we talked about the values at the time of the founding and what values we would like to see in the present and future.
Our discussion for World Values Day will come at this from a different angle, and there is no need for you to have been at the previous discussions to participate.
The US Values Alliance always looks at individual values from multiple angles, but our overarching goal is to understand how people can activate their highest values.
At this session, we will discuss the value of naming values to aspire to.
Would publishing “official” American Values change anything?
How does a community actually choose what values are important to them?
How does a community assess that they are living up to the values they name and hold
themselves accountable?
Who decides the values – voters or elected officials?
In France, they use a panel system to decide what is “French culture”. Would that be respected here?
