CHRISTINE NXUMALO is an advocate for justice and mental health in South Africa. She is a communications professional and writer who found her voice through one of the darkest tragedies in the country’s post-apartheid history: the Life Esidimeni tragedy. She was the sister of one of the 144 mental healthcare users who died due to gross negligence and state failure, and became one of the central voices in the fight for justice, battling constant institutional hostility and obstruction.
