They can help us to join together to navigate change and face the challenge of the negative forces that constantly drive us apart. At this session we will choose one value to focus on that we feel is most needed in the world today. We will consider in what way this value is meaningful to us personally, and why it important for the world. We will then identify what single change we could make and continue to make that would really bring that value to life in the world. Organised by World Values Day.

How would it feel to you if all institutions were trustworthy and humane in everything they did? How would you live your life? A fiduciary is legally required to put the interests of others ahead of their own self-interest. We already hold doctors, lawyers, and some financial advisers to that standard. Can we extend it to every institution that shapes how we live. FIAT, Fiduciary In All Things, proposes exactly that. One sentence of legislation requires every institution to be trustworthy in everything it does, toward people and planet as well as truth and democracy. What changes when all the world's institutions are trustworthy and humane in all they do? Join this open conversation. Organised by Fiduciary In All Things (FIAT).

Description

How would it feel if you could count on every institution you encountered to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? How would your life change? We say we are trapped in a post-truth world, but rarely stop to ask what it would feel like if we were not — if every institution was trusted to speak truthfully. What would that mean in practice? Media you could trust. Politicians who couldn’t legally mislead you. Platforms accountable for their information. What difference would it make to our lives, our economics, our sense of progress and values as a civilisation? How would it change the way we speak to one another? Organised by Fiduciary In All Things (FIAT).

How do different generational identities shape competing views of authority, opportunity, success, and responsibility? How can values-informed practice turn clashes into constructive dialogue, action, and responsive educational systems? This is one of two sessions with different speakers addressing the question organised by the Global Alliance for Values-based Education (GAVE).

How does a community actually choose what values are important to them? How does a community assess that they are living up to the values they name and hold themselves accountable? Who decides the values – voters or elected officials? In France, they use a panel system to decide what is “French culture”. Would that be respected here? Organised byUS Values Alliance.

Have you ever volunteered to do something and then found yourself regretting it, being drained by it or feeling underappreciated? We often do this because we’re volunteering from the mind and from beliefs we have about ourselves and others. That’s not wrong, and our original intention was positive and honourable. But when we create only from the mind, and exclude the wisdom of the heart, the danger is we miss what’s really important and where we will find joy, fulfilment, and the energy to sustain our actions. Join this fun and empowering session to experience a heart-focused process to identify your unconditional gifts of generosity and explore how you can offer them to the world. Matt Pain as a 5 year old, wanted to be a Greengrocer or a Shire horse. He became neither. Instead, he’s been a singer/songwriter, TV extra, fork-lift driver, PT and Massage Therapist, among others. A common thread has been a desire to heal and make life better for people. He calls himself a Wisdom Connector - introducing capable, inspiring people to each other, and never afraid to ask the "dumb" questions.
